Volleyball Preparing for A-10 Tourney Semifinals
Nov. 16, 2007
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Xavier volleyball team spent Friday afternoon preparing for its Saturday evening Atlantic 10 Championship semifinal match, which is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The team spent an hour in Halton Arena practicing for tomorrow's match. With a No. 2 seed, the Musketeers have a first round bye and will face No. 3-seeded Saint Louis on Saturday, the highest remaining seed after Friday night's matches. "The girls are focused and I am excited to see how we do tomorrow night," said head coach Floyd Deaton, the 2007 A-10 Coach of the Year. "I am extremely honored to be named the Coach of the Year. Actually, I can think of four or five other coaches that honor could have gone to." The Musketeers placed five players on A-10 All Conference teams, including senior Jill Quayle who was named A-10 Player of the Year, in addition to two team members making the A-10 Academic All Conference team. "Jill (Quayle) really deserved to be named Player of the Year," said Deaton. "That award goes to the most consistant player on the league and I feel she is that player. Jill determines the tone of the match for us and she can change a game in an instant." Xavier's match can be followed with live stats on the A-10 Volleyball Championship website by clicking here.
