Freshman Women's Soccer Standout Earns Atlantic 10 Honor

XU Hosts Two Big Atlantic 10 Matches This Weekend

CINCINNATI -- -

Carlyanne Wenzel, a freshman forward from Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral, has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week. Wenzel contributed a goal and two assists to a pair of Xavier wins this past weekend.

Wenzel had the game-winning goal to break a 1-1 tie in the second half of Xavier's 2-1 win at George Washington on Friday. On Sunday she had assists on each of XU's first two goals in the 5-0 win over Saint Joseph's, including an assist on the game-winner

Wenzel leads the team in goals (4) and points (10) scored this season.

Xavier, which is now 2-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 3-8 overall, continues its three-match homestand next weekend with matches against Rhode Island on Friday night at 7 p.m. and Massachusetts next Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
