Three Musketeers Honored With Atlantic 10 Accolades
March 5, 2008
Harris was named to the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive year after averaging 15.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. Harris finished the regular season as the league's seventh leading scorer, second in rebounds per game and led the conference in blocks for the second straight year. Harris, a Preseason Wooden Award candidate, was the only sophomore named to the First Team.
Phillips was honored as the A-10 Rookie of the Year and was also voted onto the All-Conference Second Team. This marks the second year in-a-row a Musketeer has been honored as the Rookie of the Year as Harris earned the accolade last year. Phillips finished the regular season ranked 10th in the league at 14.1 points per game and led the conference and was fifth in the country at 11.3 rebounds per game. She was also second in the A-10 with a field goal percentage of 59.8. Phillips established a new single-season rebounding record at XU and her 17 double-doubles are the most by any freshman in the country. Reed was selected as the Sixth Player of the Year after averaging 7.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game. Reed saw action in 19 games off the bench as she was forced to sit out XU's first 10 games due to NCAA transfer rules. This marks the third time in four years a Musketeer has won the Sixth Player of the Year award as Michele Miller was selected in 2005 and Joei Clyburn was picked last year. XU is 15-4 since Reed became eligible. The Musketeers finished 11-3 in league play and earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship set to be played from March 7-10 at |
