CINCINNATI - Freshman men's soccer standouts Brandon Bucher and El-Hadji Dieng have each been selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team as announced by the league on Wednesday. Dieng, a high school All-American, earned mention on the Preseason All-Rookie Team as well.
Bucher ended the year as Xavier's leading scorer, marking the first time a freshman has led the Musketeers in scoring since 1991. Bucher scored a team-high five goals and added two assists in 18 games.
Dieng ended the season as XU's second-leading scorer after registering four goals and three assists for 11 points. Dieng also notched one game-winning goal on the year.
The Musketeers finished the year with an 8-10-1 overall record and a level 4-4-1 mark in league play. The Musketeers missed out on playing in their second consecutive Atlantic 10 Championship by one point. All four of Xavier's losses in conference play came by a one goal margin and two came in overtime.
