Men's Golf Finishes Ninth at USA Mobile Bay Invitational
March 25, 2008 CINCINNATI- Freshman Peter O'Neill shot a team leading nine over par 225 to pace the Xavier University men's golf team to a ninth place finish at the USA Mobile Bay Intercollegiate. O'Neill finished in a tie for 18th place, while senior Brian Keating finished with an 11 over par 227, good enough for 24th place. The University of Louisville carded a nine over par 873 to take home the championship trophy. The Cardinals were followed closely by the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga with a respectable 13 over par 877. O'Neill began the tournament shaky with an opening round of 77, but managed to finish off the event with two rounds of 74. Keating followed O'Neill closely each day recording rounds of 78-75-74 to pace the rest of the Musketeers. Junior Kyle Hodges fired rounds of 81-80-72, good enough to reach to a tie for 47th overall. Senior Andy Connell recorded rounds of 80-75-81 to earn himself a spot at 54th overall.
The Musketeers will be back in action on Monday April 7 in Columbia, Mo. for the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate. |
