Head Coach Sean Miller will have seven newcomers on his 2008-09 roster.

Point Guard Terrell Holloway Completes Men's Basketball Recruiting Class

April 24, 2008

CINCINNATI --- - Xavier University men's basketball coach Sean Miller announced today that Terrell Holloway has signed a scholarship agreement with Xavier University. Holloway, a 6-0, 175-pound guard from Hempstead, N.Y., averaged 14 points and seven assists a game this past season for Cincinnati's Harmony Prep School.

"Terrell Holloway is the final piece to our 2008 recruiting class," said Miller.  "His addition solidifies our backcourt and adds the necessary depth needed to replace the departure of our two senior guards, Stanley Burrell and Drew Lavender.

"Terrell has all of the qualities that we look for in our guards -- outstanding quickness on offense and defense and a great feel for the game. He is also an outstanding young man and fits into our team and University environments extremely well."

Holloway is the 20th ranked point guard in the class of 2008 and the 100th overall prospect according to Rivals.com. The Hempstead native is ranked as the 16th best point guard in his class according to scout.com. He led Hempstead High School to the Nassau Class AA title in 2006, the program's first in six seasons. He averaged 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals for Coach Rodney Crawford his senior year.

During the Fall signing period, Miller received four signed National Letters of Intent for prep players that will be Musketeers beginning in the 2008-09 season. The four players added during the early signing period were: Kenny Frease, a 7-0 and 265-pound First Team All-State center from Massillon (Ohio) Perry High School; Brian Walsh, a 6-4 and 185-pound guard/forward from Moon High School in Coraopolis, Pa.; Brad Redford, a 6-0 and 170-pound guard from Frankenmuth (Mich.) High School who won the prestigious Michigan "Mr. Basketball" Award. All three were listed as high honorable mention prep All-Americans in the 2007-08 Sporting News preseason magazine. The fourth signee is Mark Lyons, a 6-1, 165-pound guard from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. (previously a star at Schenectady (N.Y.) High).

The addition of Holloway gives Xavier seven new players for the 2008-09 season on a roster that includes 6-8 Tulsa transfer Jamel McLean and 6-8 Hillsdale transfer Andrew Taylor, who practiced with Xavier this past season and will be eligible as sophomores next season.

Three members of Xavier's incoming freshman class were named in the Rivals.com final release of their "Top 150" rankings for the class of 2008: Frease (No. 42) and Terrell Holloway (No. 100) were recognized as four-star prospects. Mark Lyons was a three-star prospect, ranked at No. 103 in the class. Xavier joins only 22 other schools with three or more Rivals "Top 150" commitments.
