Xavier Brings in Top-20 Finish at Roy Griak Invitational

CINCINNATI -- The Xavier University men's and women's cross country teams competed today at the Roy Griak Invitational in St. Paul Minn. The women finished 18th improving their record 62-25. Despite resting three of their top performers the men took 19th establishing a 47-28 record for the season. The women's side competed against four teams named in the National Cross Country rankings this past week. Freshman Christina Schneider led the Musketeers finishing in 22:58.2 in the 6K race. Following Schneider was junior Becky Clark who finishing in 23:17 and senior Amanda Brown turning in a time of 23:29.9. Rounding out the women's squad was freshman Caitlin Thomas and senior Caitlin Shagena recording times of 23:54.5 and 24:46.6, respectively. Senior Ben Milroy was the first among the men's team to cross the finish line in 25:42.4. Junior Luke Beuerlein came in next at 26:05.4 followed by freshmen Tyler Fry at 27:21. Tommy Kauffmann at 27:26.80. Rounding out the men's side was sophomore Drew Kaiser at 27:37.6. The men's squad ran the 8K race against five teams in the National Cross Country Rankings last week.
The Musketeers will return to action Friday, October 12 at the Hatter Invitational in Deland, Fla. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. |
