Xavier Finishes Third As They Co-Host the Queen City Invitational

CINCINNATI -- The Xavier University men's and women's cross country team co-hosted the Queen City Invitational today alongside The University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University at Voice of America Park in West Chester, Ohio. Senior Amanda Brown helped lead the women's squad to a third place finish, defeating Ohio State University for the first time ever. Senior Ben Milroy set the pace for the men also finishing third. Four of Xavier's top-five runners finished in the top-20 of an 81 person field. Brown finished eighth in a time of 18:46.00. Junior Becky Clark was the second Musketeer to cross the finish line coming in 13th at 18:58.04. Freshmen Caitlin Thomas and Christina Schneider finished 18th and 19th in times of 19:29.97, and 19:30.69, respectively. Senior co-captain Caitlin Shagena rounded out the women's side in a time of 19:38.55. Milroy earned individual runner-up honors at 15:37.85. Juniors Clinton Womack and Luke Beuerlein came in 8th and 12th at 15:45.49 and 15:58.74, respectively. Freshmen Dean Rothenberger and Tommy Kauffmann rounded out the men's squad with times of 16:13.46 and 16:19.03.
The Musketeers will return to action next Friday, September 14 at the National Catholic Championships in South Bend, Ind. The meet is set to start at 4:30 p.m. |
