Two School Records Broken at Golden Flash Gala

CINCINNATI - The men's and women's track and field teams competed today at the Golden Flash Gala in Kent, Ohio. Two school records were broken on the men's side including junior Luke Beuerlein in the 1,000-meter run and Clinton Womack, Sam Lewis, Ben Nathan, and Dan Magness in the 4x400-meter relay. Beuerlein's time of 2:34.72 broke the previous 1,000-meter run record held by senior Matthew Weingardt. Junior Clinton Womack was knocked down during the same race effecting his time of 2:41.64. The men's 4x400-meter relay team beat the previous record by thee seconds. Other notable finishes on the men's side include freshman Ben Nathan and Alejandro Ruiz in the 800-meter run finishing in 2:00.06 and 2:04.93, respectively. Junior Aaron Smith finished the one-mile run in 4:37.76 while freshman Michael McManus finished ninth in high jump clearing 6-03.25. On the women's side freshman Christina Schneider the 3,000-meter run in a standout time of 10:07.39 finishing fourth. Junior Becky Clark and Sophomore Bethany Moore had impressive 1,000-meter run times. Clark just missed breaking her own school record finishing in 2:57.72 and Moore ran a personal-best 3:02.27.
XU will return to action January 25th when they travel to Bloomington, Ind. to compete at the Gladstein Invitational. |
