Xavier Track Takes Five School Records at Stan Lyons Invitational

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's track programs competed today at the Stan Lyons Invitational. Five school records were broken at the meet hosted by Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Highlighting the women's side was freshman Katie Phillips who broke the 200-meter dash record, previously held by sophomore Danna Deans, finishing in a time of 27.55.

Freshmen Bethany Moore and Kelsey Flaherty turned in lifetime-best times in the 800-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase, respectively. Moore recorded a time of 2:21.13, while Flaherty turned in an 11:46.89.

The trio of sophomore Ashley Stick, freshman Dani Meiners and sophomore Caitlin Shagena turned in solid performances in the 1,500-meter run. Their times were 4:50.78, 4:52.33, and 4:54.79, respectively.

The men's squad claimed four school records. Freshman John Schultz broke his own record in the javelin recording a distance of 46.22m. Sophomore Clinton Womack shattered the school record in the 400-meter dash, recording a time of 50.89.

Sophomore Luke Beuerlein made school history in his first time running the 3,000-meter steeplechase finishing in a first-place time of 9:30.47. Sophomore Jeff Hileman broke his own record by nearly three second in the 400-meter hurdles finishing in 57.65.
 

 

Junior Ben Milroy turned in a personal-best finish in the 1,500-meter run at 4:06.02.

The Musketeers will return to action next Saturday, May 5 as they compete for the Atlantic 10 trophy in Charlotte, N.C.
