Xavier Head Athletic Trainer Jody Jenike is in her 19th year at Xavier. Jenike is in charge of Xavier's ever-growing Sports Medicine Department for its 16 NCAA Division I sports. Jenike has two full-time Assistant Athletic Trainers, including Mike Mulcahey and Michelle Sullivan. Mulcahey, whose biography is on page 78, works with the Men's Basketball Team. She relies on a long list of generous medical specialists to support her training staff. Jenike worked as a United States Olympic Committee Staff Trainer for the 1998 Goodwill Games and worked as an athletic trainer at the 1996 Olympic Games. Jenike co-chaired the Sports Medicine Committee for the 1997 Women's Final Four. Jenike participated as a volunteer at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in the summer of 1997, where she worked with the men's gymnastics team and the 1997 World Team Trials for the U.S. Judo Team. Jenike, a native Cincinnatian, came to Xavier in 1989 after serving for two years as a graduate assistant in the Temple University Sports Medicine Department. She earned her master's degree in sports medicine from Temple in 1989. Jenike, who earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from the University of Cincinnati in 1987, was a student trainer while an undergraduate. Jenike resides in Dayton. |
