Rich Franchak, 42, came to Xavier as Senior Associate Athletic Director in 2004. Prior to coming to Xavier, he was the associate director of the Badger Fund at the University of Wisconsin from 2000-04. While holding the post of associate director of the Badger Fund at Wisconsin, Franchak was integral in the development and responsible for the operational oversight of the school's comprehensive annual giving program for intercollegiate athletics. During his four-year tenure, Wisconsin expanded its donor base by 64 percent. From 1999-2000, Franchak was the assistant athletic director for business services at Wisconsin. Franchak was active in constructing the department's strategic five-year financial plan, which enabled the department to confidently move forward with a $100 million renovation of Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium while simultaneously increasing operating reserves to more than $6 million. Before going to Wisconsin, Franchak served as assistant director of athletics at the University of Akron from 1990-1994. While at Akron, Franchak exercised management responsibility for a broad range of activities and services including capital projects, facility management, event operations, NCAA rules education and compliance, athletic financial aid administration, and football and basketball scheduling. Prior to his stint at Akron, Franchak served as assistant business manager for the United States Naval Academy. Franchak, a 1986 graduate of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, holds a bachelor of arts in economics with a concentration in accounting. He resides in Cincinnati with his wife Jennifer and seven-year-old son Nicholas. |
